LAHORE: On Wednesday at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Gymnasium Hall, the Rawalpindi division girls’ table tennis team upset the formidable Lahore team, winning 3-2 in the Under-16 Talent Hunt Programme Inter-Division Table Tennis Championship team event.
In the competition, which was held under the sponsorship of the Punjab Sports Department as a part of the Sports Board Punjab’s Annual Sports Calendar Programme, the Lahore team came in second and the Sahiwal team came in third
On this occasion, the chief guest was Dr. Qurra-tul Ain. In attendance on this occasion were Yasmeen Akhtar, the director of sports, Irfanullah Khan, the president of Punjab Table Tennis, Hafeez Bhatti, the chief sports consultant, Mustafa Shah, the administrator of the NPSC Gymnasium Hall, and other officials.
The top spot holders received prizes from Dr. Qurra-tul Ain. There were group shots with the chief guest for the male and female table tennis players and officials who participated. Dr. Asif Tufail, DG Sports Punjab, congratulated the victorious team as well.
Earlier, Rawalpindi Division defeated Sahiwal by a score of 3-0 in the first semi-final of the girls’ team event to advance to the final. Lahore Division advanced to the final in the girls’ second semi-final after overcoming Multan 3-1.
In the first semifinal of the boy’s team event, Lahore defeated Multan 3-1, and in the second semifinal, Bahawalpur defeated Faisalabad 3-2 to advance to the final.
