The Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) has officially launched the Servis Tyres Junior National Tennis Championship 2026 at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore, setting the stage for an exciting display of emerging tennis talent from across the country.
The championship has attracted a large number of promising junior boys and girls, all competing with great enthusiasm for national honors in multiple age categories. The event reflects the growing strength of grassroots tennis in Pakistan and provides an important platform for young players to showcase their skills and gain competitive experience.
The opening ceremony was graced by Senior Executive Vice President PLTA, Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), as the chief guest. The ceremony was attended by notable figures from the tennis community, including tournament referee Faheem Siddiqui, coach Mehboob Waheed Jan, and President of Parents Tennis Lovers Association Syed Sajid Ali Bukhari. A vibrant gathering of players, parents, coaches, and media representatives added to the significance of the occasion.
Addressing the participants, Rashid Malik extended his best wishes to all players and encouraged them to compete with zeal, discipline, and sportsmanship. He urged the young athletes to strive for excellence and work hard to bring pride to Pakistan at the international level.
The matches began with impressive performances across various categories. In the boys U-18 first round, Abdur Rehman Pirzada, Muhammad Ahmad Afzal, Muhammad Muaz, Aliyan Ali, Zayd Mansoor, Ohad-e-Mustafa, Rehaan Khan, Muteeb-ur-Rehman, and Abdur Rehman Rana all secured convincing victories to advance. The competition intensified in the pre-quarterfinal stage, where Ahtesham Humayun, Muhammad Muaz, Inam Qadir, Aliyan Ali, Ohad-e-Mustafa, Amir Mazari, and M. Yahya progressed with dominant displays.
In the boys U-14 category, the opening round saw strong wins by Ahmed Fareed Yawar, Wali M. Hassan, Shahzain Faisal, Mahad Rashid, M. Ehsan Bari, Zayd Mansoor, Daniyal Abdullah, and Mustafa Uzair Rana. The pre-quarterfinals further showcased emerging talent, with Muhammad Muaz, M. Shayan Afridi, Ohad-e-Mustafa, Muhammad Aayan, M. Faizan, and M. Ibraheem Hussain Gill advancing to the next stage.
The boys U-12 matches also produced exciting contests, with M. Faizan, Ashtar Alam Khan, Daniyal Abdullah, Muhammad Daniyal, Mustafa Uzair Rana, M. Ibraheem Gill, and Daniyal Afzal Malik registering wins in the opening round. In the quarterfinals, M. Faizan, Ashtar Alam Khan, Daniyal Abdullah, and Mustafa Uzair Rana emerged victorious to move forward in the competition. Meanwhile, in the boys and girls U-10 quarterfinals, Hashir Mustafa, Faiz Uzair Rana, and Zahran Zeeshan delivered commendable performances to secure their places in the next round.
