Four Pakistan senior players to feature in ITF World Masters Tennis in Thailand

Four Pakistan senior tennis players, including Pakistan’s senior No 1 Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), Waqar Nisar, Khurram Imtiaz and Furqan Uddin Khan, will exhibit their prowess in the upcoming ITF World Masters MT200 Championships in Khao Lak, Thailand from December 6 to 19, 2025. All the four players are being sponsored by Bank of Punjab (BoP) for this prestigious event. Mr. Rashid Malik, former Pakistan Davis Cup players and captain, will represent the country in 60+ category. Malik has a good number of feathers in his already decorated cap and his most recent achievements include singles champion (60+) MT200 Oxford in June 2025, doubles runner-up (55+) MT200 Oxford in June 2025, singles and doubles champion (60+) MT200 in Lahore, Dec 2024, Singles and doubles champion (60+) MT200 Dubai in September 2024 and singles and doubles champion (60+) MT400 Pattaya in November 2024. Mr. Waqar Nisar, another energetic senior player of Pakistan, will represent the country in 70+ category. He has also won a good number of senior events in and outside the country. His most recent achievements include singles champion (65+) MT200 Lahore in December 2024, doubles champion (65+) MT200 Lahore in December 2024, singles runner-up (70+) MT400 Dubai in February 2025, doubles champion (65+) MT400 Dubai in February 2025 and singles runner-up (70+) MT400 New York in July 2025. Khurram Imtiaz and Furqan Uddin Khan are also talented senior players of the country and will represent the green flag in the Thailand’s ITF Master MT200 Championships in 55+ categories. Both have won national and international accolades as well and are eager to win more laurels for the country at the international level. All the four players, during the press conference, held at the Tennis Club Lahore Gymkhana on Monday, told the media that they have been representing the country for many years from their own pockets and for the first time in Pakistan’s history, Bank of Punjab came as sponsors to support the cause of senior tennis players, who want to raise Pakistani flag at ITF Senior events across the globe. They also urged the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) to pay attention to senior tennis as well because the more they will participate in international events, the more it will create interest among the young tennis talent and they too will inspire and motivate the youngsters to play tennis as professional players. They also urged corporate giants to come forward to support them as they are eager to win international laurels for Pakistan.
