Saim Tahir lifts 11th Vice Admiral HMS Ch Amateur Golf Cup title

Rising golfer Muhammad Saim Tahir produced a masterful display of consistency and temperament to win the 11th Vice Admiral H.M.S Chaudhry Amateur Golf Cup 2025, which concluded at the Defence Raya Golf & Country Club.

The four-day national championship, held from November 20 to 23, drew more than 185 top golfers from across the country, competing in the amateur, senior amateur, and ladies categories in what has become one of Pakistan’s marquee amateur golf events.

Saim excelled throughout the championship and ultimately secured the prestigious amateur title with an impressive total net score of 214, the best in the field. His steady play across all three rounds kept him ahead of the challengers. Ghulam Qadir followed with a total net score of 221, earning the runner-up position, while Hussain Hamid finished third with 222 net, rounding off a highly competitive leaderboard.

In the gross category, Salman Gulzar of Defence Raya emerged as the standout performer, capturing the overall gross title with a total of 218. His solid striking and calmness under pressure gave him the winning edge. Syed Hassan Askari, also from Raya, secured the second position with a gross total of 217, while Ahmed Kiyani of Lahore Garrison finished third with 228 gross.

The senior amateur title went to Abdul Rauf Ali, who delivered a consistent and disciplined performance to outclass his competitors. In the ladies category, Mrs. Shahnaz Moeen showcased exceptional skill, concentration, and control over all three rounds to lift the ladies title. Chief of Staff Pakistan Navy, Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz, graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest. In his remarks, he congratulated the winners and praised the high standard of golf displayed by the participants. He acknowledged the contributions of sponsors, the media, tournament officials, and Defence Raya’s management for ensuring the seamless organisation of the championship. He reiterated the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to supporting and promoting healthy sporting activities in Pakistan.

The Vice Admiral H.M.S Chaudhry Amateur Golf Cup has grown into a signature event on the national golfing calendar, reflecting the Pakistan Navy’s long-standing efforts to encourage sportsmanship and athletic excellence.
