TTS Report

Pakistan’s star athletes Arshad Nadeem and Yasir Sultan are set to receive significant cash prizes following their outstanding performances at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.

Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem secured the gold medal in men’s javelin throw, while Yasir Sultan clinched the silver. Under the Pakistan Sports Board’s (PSB) newly revised Athletes’ Cash Prize Award Policy, Arshad Nadeem will receive PKR 5 million for his gold-medal performance, while Yasir Sultan will be awarded PKR 3 million for winning silver. The enhanced policy—approved and implemented on 25 July—was significantly upgraded in July through the efforts of PSB Director General Yasir Pirzada, ensuring higher financial recognition for medal-winning athletes.

At the Riyadh Games, Arshad continued his exceptional form by dominating the javelin throw final with an impressive effort of 83.05 metres, reaffirming his position as one of Pakistan’s most successful international athletes. Yasir Sultan also delivered a strong performance, recording a throw of 76.04 metres to secure the silver medal.

Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) President Arif Saeed and Secretary Khalid Mehmood praised both athletes, calling their achievements a “victory for the entire nation”. They emphasised that Arshad and Yasir have raised Pakistan’s flag high on the world stage through their commitment and excellence.

Asian Athletics Federation Vice President Muhammad Akram Sahi and Pakistan Athletics Federation President Wajahat Hussain Sahi also lauded the medal-winning pair, acknowledging their role in strengthening Pakistan’s presence in regional athletics.
