Historic Collapse: West Indies Break 34-Year Record Against Pakistan

With a crushing 202-run victory in the series decider, the West Indies not only floored Pakistan in the third ODI but also clinched the PAK vs WI contest 2–1 in emphatic fashion.

PAK vs WI: A Crisis Pakistan Can’t Shake Off
For Pakistan cricket, crisis has become a constant companion. The team seems to be living off the fading glory of its retired greats, while the current lineup struggles to rise above mediocrity. Earlier this year, the Men in Green bowed out in the group stage of the Champions Trophy on home soil. In 2024, the pattern repeated at the World T20, where a stunning loss to the USA sealed another group-stage exit.

West Indies Crush Pakistan to Take Series
Against the inaugural World Cup champions, West Indies, Pakistan began their three-match ODI series with a win, hinting at a turnaround. But the spark fizzled fast. Shai Hope’s side stormed back to claim the second match before delivering a ruthless blow in the decider a 202-run thrashing that secured the series 2–1. For Mohammad Rizwan’s men, it was another chapter in a season defined by disappointment.

PAK vs WI: West Indies Humiliate Pakistan in Series Decider
In the third and final ODI of the series, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first a decision that would come back to haunt them. West Indies set a target of 294, and in response, Pakistan’s batting collapsed in dramatic fashion. The visitors were bundled out for a miserable 92 runs, suffering a crushing 202-run defeat that sealed the series 2–1 in favour of Shai Hope’s men.

The collapse was highlighted by the failure of Pakistan’s biggest match-winners, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who managed just 9 runs between them. With no meaningful partnerships forming, the chase fell apart before it ever began.

Speaking after the match, Rizwan admitted the side “needed partnerships, and it didn’t happen.” With the Asia Cup in the UAE fast approaching, Pakistan face urgent questions about form, temperament, and consistency.
