Opening T20I in Darwin sold out as international cricket returns to the Top End

The opening match of the BKT Tyres Men’s T20I Series between Australia and South Africa in Darwin, has officially sold out. A capacity crowd of 10,000 will descend upon Marrara Stadium this Sunday night, marking the return of international cricket to the Northern Territory for the first time in 17 years. With tickets for the second T20I on Tuesday night selling fast, the overwhelming response from fans highlights the growing appetite for elite cricket in Australia’s north and sets the stage for an exciting match under lights.
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg said:
“Selling out the opening game is a thrilling way to launch what promises to be a landmark international season.
“Having Marrara Stadium packed for the opening T20 is a testament to the passion of Territory fans for Australia’s national sport.”
While Sunday’s match is now at capacity, fans still have the opportunity to be part of the action with tickets available for the second T20I at Marrara Stadium on Tuesday, August 12. The series then moves to Cairns for the third and final match on Saturday August 16 before a three match ODI series between the two sides across Cairns and Mackay.
Tickets for Tuesday night’s match can be purchased via cricket.com.au/tickets.
Every ball of the T20I and ODI series will be live and exclusive on Kayo Sports and Foxtel. Fans can also tune into the T20I and ODI series on ABC and the first two T20I games in Darwin on SEN.
