On Tuesday, the second Twenty20 International will take place at the same location, and on Saturday, December 9, the third Twenty20 International will take place at Queenstown’s Sir John Davies Oval.
The start time for all three T20Is is 1300 local time.
Both teams will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) as part of the ICC Women’s Championship after the T20I series on tour concludes. These games are scheduled to take place in Queenstown and Christchurch from December 12 to 18.
The Pakistan women’s team had two training sessions and practise matches in Christchurch after arriving in New Zealand on November 25. On Friday afternoon, they left for Dunedin. Today, the team trained for three hours at the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin, overseen by coaching staff.
New Zealand, at present, maintain a 100 per cent winning record against Pakistan women in eight head-to-head outings. Pakistan left-arm spinners Nashra Sundhu and Sadia Iqbal are positioned at the fifth and seventh spots, respectively, in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings and are looking forward to performing well for the team in the upcoming series. Nashra is one match shy of completing 50 T20I appearances for Pakistan. In the all-rounder category, captain Nida Dar is placed on the fifth position in the ICC T20I rankings.
Talking to PCB Digital on the eve of the start of the T20I series, Nida Dar said, “New Zealand are known for their cricketing excellence, and we respect that.
We are here to compete, though, and I think the players can help the team win the series.
“We view our players’ upcoming T20I series as a chance to compete against one of the most formidable teams in the world.” Many young players have recently been given opportunities; this year, five players are making their debuts as members of the touring squad.
We are preparing for the T20 World Cup in 2019, and since there are nine T20 Internationals left before the big event, the series against New Zealand gives us an opportunity to fine-tune the lineup for the competition.
