PHF and HEC start”Prime Minister Pakistan Talent Hunt Program” for Hockey promotion

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) organized the “Prime Minister Pakistan Talent Hunt Program” at Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad, focusing on men’s and women’s hockey competitions scheduled for July.

The primary objective of this initiative is to discover promising talent for Pakistan’s national sport of hockey.

In line with this endeavor, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has designated ambassadors, a selection committee, and technical officials to oversee the program.

Olympian Shakeel Abbasi has been appointed as the ambassador for the men’s competition, while Saira Ashraf will fulfill the role for the women’s competitions.

Heading the selection committee is Olympian Rahim Khan, responsible for identifying and nurturing new talent to enhance the state of hockey in the country.

The PHF has also appointed various technical officials to carry out their duties during the program. Dr. Ahsan Tanveer, Secretary-General of the Islamabad Hockey Association, will serve as the Tournament Director, assisted by Raja Shuja Iqbal, Asif Baig, and Rafat Masood, who will act as Assistant Tournament Directors.

For the role of technical officers, Syed Ghafran Shah, Syed Zia Hussain Bukhari, Najeeb Khattak, Naseer Mughal, Chaudhry Mehmood Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf, Naveed Mirza, Gulfam, Kiniz Sughra, and Farzana Rashid have been nominated.

In the umpiring domain, International umpire Jameel Butt will take on the position of Umpires Manager, while Ijaz Ahmed will be the Assistant Umpires Manager.

Additionally, Razia Rizvi will be responsible for managing the women’s umpires.The panel of umpires nominated by PHF includes M Azim, M Sajid, Shahzeb, Iftikhar, Haji Fahim, Waqas Ahmad Butt (WAPDA), Anwar Hussain (Army), Wasim Abbas (Army), M Ehsan Yousuf (Army), Asad Abbas (Army), and Malik Safdar.

To oversee the men’s and women’s competitions of national sports hockey under the Prime Minister Talent Hunt Program, Muhammad Yasin, Secretary-General of District Hockey Association Rawalpindi, has been appointed as the Chief Coordinator by the PHF.
