A text message sent by Pakistan Billiard Snooker Association (PBSA) Chairman Alamgir Sheikh bore the devastating news of the passing of Mohammad Majid Ali, aged 28, a former Asian U21 silver medalist whose remarkable skills on the green baize had earned him a special place in the hearts of snooker enthusiasts.

Tragically, this marked the second heartbreaking incident in a month for the Pakistan snooker community, which had previously mourned the loss of Mohammad Bilal.

However, the circumstances surrounding Majid’s passing were even more shocking and horrifying.

According to his brother Umar, it was confirmed to be a case of suicide. Majid took his own life using a wood-cutting machine in his hometown, Samundri, near Faisalabad.

The grief-stricken brother also revealed that Majid had been silently battling depression for several years, though the reasons behind his inner turmoil remained unknown.

Strikingly, financial woes were ruled out as the cause of his distress.

Alamgir Sheikh, the PBSA Chairman, expressed his shock and sorrow at the untimely demise of the young and talented player. He hailed Majid Ali as an exceptional talent, even though he had recently slipped out of the rankings, his potential on the snooker table had never waned.

The death of Mohammad Majid Ali has left a deep void in the Pakistan snooker community, with many lamenting the loss of a gifted player and expressing their sympathies to the grieving family.

As the news reverberates through the snooker fraternity, it serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of addressing mental health issues and supporting those who may be silently struggling with their inner demons.

The entire snooker community stands united in mourning the loss of a rising star, hoping that this tragic event will prompt a deeper conversation on mental health awareness and encourage individuals to seek help and support during their darkest moments.
