Mickey Arthur appointed director Pakistan men’s cricket team

Mickey Arthur’s appointment as the team’s director was confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday.

According to a statement from the board, Arthur will play a part in developing, creating, and managing the tactics used by the Pakistan men’s squad.

The 54-year-old will also serve as a member of the coaching staff for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, as well as for the home series against the West Indies and the away tour to Australia. In addition, he will be there with the team when Pakistan plays India in the ACC Asia Cup.

From 2016 to 2019, Arthur led Pakistan to the No. 1 spot in Tests and Twenty20 Internationals. He also assisted the team in winning the 2017 ICC Champions Cup.

“I am glad that Mickey has officially rejoined the Pakistan men’s cricket team with an enlarged role in which he will be responsible for developing and putting into effect strategies for the upcoming missions across all forms,” said Najam Sethi, chairman of the PCB Management Committee.

In order to increase our bench strength and strategically protect our future, he will also be in charge of discovering and developing future stars as well as enhancing the national team culture.

Mickey is well-versed on the present players, the structure, and the system because he previously lived and worked in Pakistan. He will undoubtedly apply the lessons he learned from his first term to have an even more productive second one.

Arthur expressed his excitement at his return to the Pakistan cricket squad and his eagerness to collaborate with the team at the time.

Since then, I have kept tabs on the players’ individual and team performances.

“This is a talented group that has the capacity to be the best in all formats, and my endeavor is to put tactics in place and foster an environment that may contribute to further enhancing their performances so that we can get the best out of them.”
