Ryan Suter’s Dirty Play Draws Criticism from Fans and Experts

Ryan Suter’s actions during Game 1 of the Minnesota Wild’s match against Dallas Stars may have worsened the feelings of Wild fans towards him. Suter was caught on television cameras twice delivering illegal cross-checks to Kirill Kaprizov’s back.

The most egregious incident occurred in the third period when Kaprizov approached the Dallas goal. Suter positioned himself behind Kaprizov and delivered a forceful cross-check to Kaprizov’s mid-back, causing him to collapse on the ice. Kaprizov then skated to the bench, where he appeared to be in great pain.

This wasn’t the first time that Suter had used a vicious cross-check against Kaprizov. Earlier in the game, when Kaprizov and Suter were away from the puck, Suter took a cheap shot at the same spot on Kaprizov’s back.

According to a tweet by former Wild team reporter Dan Myers, a former NHL General Manager once informed him that Ryan Suter is one of the league’s dirtiest players. Suter’s dirty play is not commonly known since he tends to engage in such actions behind the play.

It’s worth noting that Suter played for the Wild for nine seasons, including Kaprizov’s rookie year in the NHL, which was his last with the team.
