Road to T20 World Cup 2024 goes through Scotland and PNG

When the T20 World Cup 2024 Qualifying Pathway comes to a close, the Europe and East Asia Pacific (EAP) Regional Championships will be held in Scotland and PNG, respectively, in July.

The Pathway tournaments started in 2022, however the Regional Finals will provide teams their final opportunity to purchase tickets for the prestigious T20 tournament that will take place in the USA and Caribbean Islands in 2022.

The hosts, together with Austria, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Jersey, will compete in the Europe Regional Final, which will take place in Scotland from July 20 to July 28. The T20 World Cup in 2024 will allow two teams to reserve their tickets.

Between July 21 and July 29, Japan, the Philippines, Vanuatu, and hosts PNG will compete in the EAP Regional Final for a single slot.
Later this year, in September-October and November-December, respectively, the Americas and Africa will host their Regional Finals; the hosts and dates for the Asia Regional Final will be announced at a later time.
Toby Bailey, Interim Head of Performance for Cricket Scotland, commented on the opportunity presented by hosting the Europe Regional Final: “Hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Regional Final represents a tremendous opportunity for Cricket Scotland. After hosting a successful series against New Zealand last summer, we’re happy to be delivering more top-notch cricket to our fans, and we’re looking forward to hosting one of the biggest European regional tournaments ever.

The team is already working hard to ensure that we are well-prepared for the qualifier, and we are looking forward to the chance to earn a spot in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup.

“The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup EAP Final marks the greatest event the EAP region has seen, with direct qualification into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on the line,” stated Rob Gomm, acting regional development manager for the EAP. Every squad will undoubtedly give their all on the big stage since they have earned the right to battle for the opportunity.

“I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to Cricket PNG for organizing what will without a doubt be a fantastic event, and I would like to wish Japan, the Philippines, PNG, and Vanuatu the very best for the event.”
