PMYP cricket trials conclude with Skardu finale, empowering youth across Pakistan
TTS Report :
The Prime Minister Youth Program (PMYP) cricket trials, spearheaded by Lahore Qalandars in partnership with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), have successfully concluded with the Skardu leg, bringing to a close a sweeping nationwide mission.
From Balochistan to Sindh, Punjab to Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Gilgit-Baltistan, the initiative has left its mark, giving aspiring cricketers from every region a platform to shine. Over several weeks, the trials journeyed through major cities and remote districts alike.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stops in Kohat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar were met with boundless energy as boys and girls flocked to prove their skills on a stage designed to nurture Pakistan’s next generation of cricket stars. The expedition then extended through Mardan, Swat, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, and finally Skardu, each stop reinforcing the campaign’s national reach and significance.

Throughout every venue, the trials celebrated the local cricketing culture. Young participants displayed discipline, enthusiasm, and raw talent, qualities that Lahore Qalandars’ professional coaching teams were eager to cultivate. The program was more than a search for talent: it was a message of hope and opportunity, bringing underserved youth into the spotlight and strengthening the nation’s cricketing foundations.
Atif Naeem Rana, CEO & Owner of Lahore Qalandars, lauded the program’s impact. “This has been a monumental journey, not only in discovering hidden talent, but in giving them belief, direction, and a pathway forward,” he said. He extended heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, and HEC for enabling the platform. “Their trust and support transformed this from an idea into a nationwide movement, one that gives promising youth the chance to grow, compete, and represent Pakistan globally.”
Atif Rana added: “We are proud that the trials reached every province, every valley, and every community. Talent knows no borders. Today, many youth are stepping forward with renewed hope.”
From the young participants, the sentiments were equally powerful. “Thank you, Prime Minister, PMYP Chairman, and Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana, for believing in us,” said one aspiring cricketer from Skardu. “These trials have given me a chance to chase my dream, to prove myself on a national platform, and one day, to serve my country in the best possible way.” Another youth added, “We feel empowered. We feel seen. Because of this program, the next generation will dare to dream bigger.”
More than just trials, this initiative is strategic nation-building through sport. By providing structured talent pathways, coaching support, and exposure, PMYP and Lahore Qalandars have laid groundwork for Pakistan’s cricketing future. With many selected youth now eligible for advanced camps and potential national representation, the ripple effects will be felt for years.
Lahore Qalandars and PMYP have also indicated that follow-up training academies, scholarships, and regional cricketing infrastructure are in planning stages to sustain momentum. The ultimate goal is to produce a generation of cricketers who not only shine in Pakistan but compete confidently on the world stage.
