Pakistan’s rising javelin thrower Yasir Sultan has brought pride to the nation by clinching a bronze medal at the Asian Throwing Championships held in Mokpo, South Korea. The tournament featured some of the continent’s finest throwers, making Yasir’s achievement a significant milestone for Pakistan athletics.
Chairman South Asian Athletics Federation (SAAF) and Vice President of Asian Athletics Association, Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, termed Yasir’s performance as “a historic moment” for the country, saying, “Pakistan now proudly boasts two javelin throwers making their mark on the international stage.”
He further urged the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) to work closely with the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) in arranging specialized foreign training opportunities for emerging athletes like Yasir Sultan, so their talent can be polished to international standards.

“This achievement proves Pakistan’s growing potential in javelin throw. With proper facilities, training, and international exposure, athletes like Yasir can follow in the footsteps of our champions and bring more glory to the nation,” Gen Sahi remarked.
The athletics fraternity across Pakistan has warmly welcomed Yasir Sultan’s success, considering it not just a medal, but also a sign of hope and inspiration for the next generation of track and field athletes. Yasir’s bronze medal comes at a time when javelin throw has already captured the nation’s imagination through the exploits of Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, making this victory a significant boost to Pakistan’s growing presence in the field.
