Asif dominated the match, taking the first frame 79–15, featuring an impressive break of 51, before sealing the victory with an 89–31 win in the second frame. This crucial win puts Asif just one step away from guaranteed World Games medal success.

Asif, Pakistan’s most decorated cueist with three IBSF titles and the country’s lone representative at the multi-sport event, opened his Group ‘A’ campaign with a dominant performance.

The 43-year-old claimed the first frame 79-50 against China’s Liang Xiaolong before sealing the match with a 77-24 win in the second. He expressed that the victory was significant for him and conveyed satisfaction with his performance, adding that he aimed to maintain the winning momentum.

Asif’s win marks a powerful beginning in the highly competitive 12-player tournament, which brings together top athletes from nine different nations. The players are divided into four groups, where they will face off in a round-robin format. After these initial matches, the top two performers from each group will advance to the quarter-finals, setting the stage for an intense knockout phase. With this strong start, Asif is well-positioned to make a deep run in the competition.

Asif’s impressive start raises hopes for a strong showing for Pakistan on the global snooker stage. With his skill and determination, fans eagerly await his upcoming matches as he aims to advance further and make history once again.
