England-India Thriller Shakes Up WTC27 Rankings
As the high-stakes Test series between England and India concludes, the outcome has brought a significant shift in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) rankings. With crucial points at stake, the results have redefined the trajectories of both teams, intensifying the race towards the WTC 2027 Final.
While it’s still early days in the WTC27 cycle, India managed to usurp England and move into third place in the ICC World Test Championship standings with their victory in the final Test, earning 12 crucial points. They now have 28 points on the board and a points percentage of 46.67%.
Although England have a similar number of wins and draws as India, they currently occupy fourth place in the ICC World Test Championship standings with 26 points and a points percentage of 43.33%. Their ranking took a hit due to a two-point penalty for maintaining a slow over rate during the Lord’s Test.
Australia continue to lead the table, having secured victories in all three of their matches in the ongoing WTC cycle. Their opponents in those games, the West Indies, have yet to earn a single point and sit in sixth place just above South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan, all of whom are yet to begin their campaigns in this cycle.
Sri Lanka currently sit second in the ICC World Test Championship standings, having registered a victory and a draw in their two matches so far, giving them a points percentage of 66.67%.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are placed fifth, with just four points and a points percentage of 16.67%.
