Pakistan’s complete schedule for WTC 2025–27 cycle revealed

Pakistan's complete schedule for the WTC 2025–27 cycle has been revealed

Pakistan’s complete schedule for the WTC 2025–27 cycle has been revealed, and the team faces a tough path ahead with 13 Test matches spread across six series over the next two years.

Interestingly, Pakistan will not face India or Australia during this cycle — two of the strongest Test sides. The last time Pakistan played a Test series against India was in 2007. According to the schedule, Pakistan will play three series at home and three away. They will host South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand for two-Test series each, while their away assignments include two Tests each in Bangladesh and West Indies, and a three-Test series in England in August–September 2026.

While missing out on playing India and Australia could be seen as a relief on paper, Pakistan’s recent performance in Test cricket suggests they still have a lot of work to do. In the previous WTC cycle (2023–25), Pakistan finished ninth and last on the table, with only five wins in 14 matches. The Pakistan Cricket Board is currently following a policy of format-specific squads, but a major challenge remains the appointment of a full-time Test captain and head coach ahead of the new cycle.

Pakistan will begin their campaign with a home series against South Africa in October-November 2025. This will be followed by a tour of Bangladesh in March 2026, then visits to the West Indies and England. They will conclude the cycle with home series against Sri Lanka in November 2026 and New Zealand in March 2027.The ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle officially begins on June 17 with Sri Lanka facing Bangladesh in the opening Test in Galle.
