Pakistan’s climbers Sirbaz Khan and Naila Kiani accomplished a stunning feat when on Monday, they summited 8,188 metres Cho Oyu, the sixth highest peak in the world, located in China.
“Sirbaz has accomplished an amazing accomplishment by ascending Cho Oyu, in over 28 hours via a marathon alpine style climb,” Secretary Alpine Club of Pakistan, Karrar Haidri said in a statement. “He achieved this feat without additional oxygen, which makes it even more amazing. There is still one summit left on his trek, this being the thirteenth successful one. “Many congratulations to Sirbaz on this incredible feat, and best wishes for a safe return. Pakistan is proud of its accomplishment, and it is a time to celebrate. We salute his tenacity and skill as a mountaineer,” Haidri added.

In another message, Haidri congratulated Pakistan’s woman climber Naila Kiani on summiting Cho Oyu. “Her determination is truly awe-inspiring, as she conquered the peak in incredibly challenging conditions with very poor visibility and hostile weather. This marathon climb that took over 28 hours is a testament to her strength and mountaineering skills. “We all hope and pray for Naila’s safe return from this extraordinary adventure,” he said.
Additionally, it’s worth acknowledging that this marks Sirbaz’s 13th successful 8,000-meter peak ascent, while Naila, sponsored and supported by BARD Foundation, has now reached her 10th 8,000-meter summit. Their dedication to mountaineering is truly commendable, and their achievements are a source of inspiration to all.
