Pakistan Asim Shafiq selected as ITF/ATF Coach

PTF is pleased to convey that Mr. Asim Shafik, National Development Director-PTF and Head Coach NTC-Islamabad, has been selected as Coach of the ITF/ATF Grand Slam Player Development Program 14&U team for Asia.

The Team will be competing in tournaments in France, Germany, and Belgium. The team consists of the 12 best boys and girls from Asia, selected on the basis of their performance in various tournaments, as well as their ATF rankings.

Team Asia players are from Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Korea, and Thailand. Asim Shafik will be accompanied by two other coaches from India and Korea.

It is a matter of great honor for Pakistan that the ITF and ATF have appointed Asim for this most important assignment, a first for a Pakistani coach.

This is the second ITF/ATF GSPDP assignment for Asim, and it recognizes Asim’s services in coaching and development.

The President PTF, Senator Salim Saifullah Khan, congratulated Asim Shafik for bringing another laurel to Pakistan, and wished him the best for a safe and successful Tour.

His academic background includes a BS Honors degree in Sociology and an MPhil from Punjab University, alongside a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sargodha. Furthermore, Mr. Wahid is a Ph.D. candidate in Journalism at Complutense University of Madrid, and has contributed to research on topics including the relationship of sports participation with achievement, motivation, and innovation traits among university students, and the effects of parental involvement on student participation in sports. With his extensive experience in covering diverse topics and his keen analytical skills, Mr. Azhar ul Haq Wahid is poised to lead our sports news coverage with depth, accuracy, and insightful perspectives, ensuring our readers receive top-tier journalistic content.
