Luka Modric’s Miraculous Recovery: Will He Return in Time for the Copa del Rey Final?

Real Madrid‘s seasoned midfielder, Luka Modric, who sustained a thigh injury last week, might make a swifter return to the pitch than initially anticipated, as reported by Sport Klub.

Sport Klub stated that Modric consulted a specialist in Belgrade, Serbia, to receive treatment for his muscular injury. Thanks to this expert assistance, it is now expected that the midfielder will recover faster than previously estimated.

Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, mentioned on Friday that Modric could potentially miss the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna on May 6.

Addressing the reporters before Madrid’s LaLiga match against Almeria on Saturday, Ancelotti stated, “He sustained an injury during the match against Girona and is currently unavailable for selection.”

“We are waiting to see how his recovery progresses, and at this point, we cannot determine if he will be fit for the Copa match. We are concerned, and we hope for his swift recovery to enable his participation in the crucial matches,” expressed the Madrid manager.

Luka Modric, 37, played slightly over an hour in Real’s 4-2 defeat against Girona on Tuesday before being substituted.

It is worth noting that Los Blancos are eager to secure their 20th Copa del Rey title in the club’s history.

Ancelotti also provided an injury update on winger Vinicius Jr., who suffered a knee injury during the La Liga match against Almeria on Saturday.

Vinicius was substituted in the 82nd minute of the game, which Madrid won 4-2, thanks to a hat-trick by Karim Benzema. Nevertheless, Ancelotti expressed optimism regarding Vinicius’ recovery.

However, Vinicius will be absent from the upcoming match against Real Sociedad due to a yellow card he received, resulting in his second suspension of the season.

“He experienced a knock on the knee, but it is not serious. I believe he will recover well within a couple of days. Although he is ineligible for the next game, he will be fit for the Cup final,” assured the Madrid manager.

“It’s quite surprising that he has received 10 yellow cards; not even the most aggressive midfielders in La Liga have accumulated as many,” Ancelotti added.

“While he does need to improve in certain aspects, I believe he has been shown too many yellows and not enough for the fouls committed against him.”

Since the start of the 2021-22 season, Vinicius has directly contributed to 84 goals for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid’s subsequent match following the Sociedad encounter is the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna. Three days later, they will welcome Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

During the match against Almeria, Benzema secured his hat-trick in the first half, and Rodrygo added the fourth early in the second half for Madrid. On the other side, Lazaro and Lucas Robertone found the net for the visiting team.
