BN Polo emerged as champions of the Diamond Paints Polo Cup 2026 after defeating FG Polo 9–7.5 in a gripping 10-goal main final held at the Jinnah Polo Fields.
The final played on Sunday drew a large crowd of spectators and families, who witnessed a fast-paced and competitive encounter between two evenly matched sides. The tournament was organised by Jinnah Polo Fields with the support of Diamond Paints.
The closing ceremony was graced by CEO of Diamond Paints Mir Shoaib Ahmed as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Director Mrs. Mir Shoaib Ahmed, Director Mir Huzaifa Ahmed, Club Secretary Maj Adil Sultan Rao (R), and a large number of polo enthusiasts. At the concluding ceremony, FG Polo team was awarded the winning trophy while the best playing pony award was presented to Babar Naseem’s mare in recognition of outstanding performance during the final.
In the main final, BN Polo outpaced FG Polo by 9–7.5. The final lived up to expectations, delivering end-to-end action across four chukkers. BN Polo displayed greater composure in crucial moments to seal a hard-fought 9–7.5 victory. For BN Polo, Saqib Khan Khakwani emerged as top scorer with superb six goals while Babar Naseem, Ibrahim Khalil and Hamza Mawaz Khan converted one goal apiece. For FG Polo, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Marcos Rivarola smashed in six goals while Raja Temur Nadeem struck one.
The match began at high intensity. Marcos Rivarola opened the scoring for FG Polo with a brilliant 30-yard field goal. Saqib Khan Khakwani quickly responded with a 30-yard effort for BN Polo. FG regained the lead through a penalty conversion by Farooq Amin Sufi, but BN Polo struck back before the end of the chukker, keeping the contest level at 2–2.
FG Polo took control in the second chukker. Ibrahim Khalil scored for BN Polo, but FG Polo responded through Marcos Rivarola’s powerful 40-yard strike and a penalty conversion. Saqib Khan Khakwani kept BN Polo in touch with a fine 30-yard goal. Despite BN’s efforts, FG edged ahead by the close of the chukker 5–4.
The third chukker proved decisive in momentum terms. Saqib Khakwani converted a penalty and later added a stunning 60-yard field goal. Hamza Mawaz also found the net for BN. FG responded through Raja Temur Nadeem and Marcos Rivarola, but BN’s attacking pressure narrowed the gap and shifted momentum toward the eventual champions, making it a 7-7.5.
In the fourth and decisive chukker, both teams traded goals. Saqib Khan Khakwani and Marcos Rivarola scored from open play, but BN showed superior finishing in the closing stages. A crucial late field goal ensured BN Polo secured the match 9–7.5, sparking celebrations among players and supporters.
