Dubai – At the ICC Academy in Dubai on Tuesday, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 83 runs to advance to the semifinals of the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2023.
Pakistan, who are undefeated in the U19 Asia Cup 2023, used the fifties of Shamyl Hussain, Shahzaib Khan, and Riaz Ullah to put on an intimidating 303 in 48 overs. Shahzaib Khan, the opening batsman, led the team in scoring with 79 from 95 balls, nine boundaries, and a six. In his first innings, Shamyl Hussain amassed a 54-ball 75 by hitting seven fours and five maximums.
Contributing with 73 off 69 deliveries was Riaz Ullah. He knocked in two sixes and five boundaries. After scoring 19 runs off of 20 balls, Azan Awais was Pakistan’s next-best run scorer. Afghanistan responded by putting on a disastrous batting display, being bowled out for 220 in 48.4 overs. He amassed the highest score for his team, scoring 54 from 78 balls, including four boundaries and a six. Wafiullah Tarakhil contributed with a 32-ball score of 34.
