On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the official schedule for the upcoming World Cup set to take place in India.
Pakistan‘s initial encounters in the tournament will be against qualifying teams on October 6 and October 12.
A highly anticipated clash awaits the Men in Green as they are scheduled to compete against their arch-rivals, India, on October 15 in Ahmedabad.
With a total of 10 teams participating, the tournament will unfold across 10 different venues from October 5 to November 19. The prestigious Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will serve as the venue for both the tournament opener and the final match, adding to its significance.
Here is the schedule for Pakistan in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023:
October 6: Pakistan vs Qualifier 1 in Hyderabad
October 12: Pakistan vs Qualifier 2 in Hyderabad
October 15: Pakistan vs India in Ahmedabad
October 20: Pakistan vs Australia in Bengaluru
October 23: Pakistan vs Afghanistan in Chennai
October 27: Pakistan vs South Africa in Chennai
October 31: Pakistan vs Bangladesh in Kolkata
November 4: Pakistan vs New Zealand in Bengaluru (Day match)
November 12: Pakistan vs England in Kolkata
The day matches will commence at 10:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST), while all other matches will be day-night fixtures starting at 01:30 pm (PST).
Eight teams have qualified for the event through the Cricket World Cup Super League, while the final two spots will be filled by the finalists of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier happening in Zimbabwe.
If the West Indies qualify, they will be designated as Q1, regardless of their standing in the Qualifiers. Similarly, if Sri Lanka qualifies, they will be designated as Q2, regardless of their position in the Qualifiers.
If Pakistan makes it to the semi-finals, their match will be held in Kolkata. If India reaches the semi-finals, their match will be played in Mumbai, unless they face Pakistan, in which case the match will be held in Kolkata.
The tournament will follow a round-robin format, with all teams playing against each other, resulting in a total of 45 league matches.
The top four teams from the league stage will qualify for the semi-finals, which will take place in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. Reserve days will be available for the semi-finals and the final.
