In a setback for Pakistan, all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was taken to the hospital on Wednesday after sustaining a finger injury during the third ODI against New Zealand. The incident occurred when Daryl Mitchell struck a powerful shot down the ground, hitting Nawaz’s hand as he attempted to stop the ball.Video footage showed Nawaz in evident pain, receiving immediate treatment on the field.

Despite the injury, he completed his over before being escorted off the ground for further assessment.The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Nawaz has been taken to the hospital for an X-ray, and updates on his injury will be provided in due course. This injury adds to the woes of the national team, who had already lost Haris Sohail due to an injury sustained in a practice session.

Sohail was subsequently replaced by Iftikhar Ahmed for the remaining ODIs in Karachi.In the ongoing match, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 287-6 in their 50 overs, with Imam-ul-Haq scoring 90 runs and Babar Azam contributing 54 runs.
