Former Indian skipper and star batter Virat Kohli admitted that a recent run drought had a negative influence on his mental health and that he had been acting to show that everything was alright.

The prominent batsman had previously admitted to having depression. Meanwhile, Kamal Rashid Kumar, a self-described critic from India, has blamed Anushka Sharma, Virat’s wife, for the deterioration of the latter’s mental state.

In a Twitter post, KRK wrote: “Virat Kohli is the first cricketer in India who is having a problem with depression. Ye hai result ek heroine se shaadi karne ka (This is the result of marrying an actress). She must have put in his head that he is having a depression problem.”

KRK stated in another tweet after deleting the one he had initially posted following criticising Anushka Sharma for Virat Kohli’s mental state: “Ek North Indian strong boy Virat Kohli Ko depression ki beemari kaise ho gayee? (How could a strong North Indian boy suffer from depression)?”

In spite of his allegation, he also questioned Kohli’s inclusion in the squad. KRK faced criticism for his unjustified statement. On the other side, Anushka has not reacted to KRK’s remarks. However, Kohli was joint top-scorer (35 runs off 34 balls) for India against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 opener against Pakistan on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium, helping the Men in Blue to a five-wicket victory over the Green Shirts.
