Pakistan’s Shajjar Abbas failed to qualify for the next round of the Men’s 100m event in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022. Shajjar contested in heat 8 of the event. The young Pakistani sprinter clocked 10.38s, which is his personal best, but wasn’t enough to get through the next round. He finished 20th among 63 sprinters who took part in the event. Remember, Shajjar was one of the hopes of Pakistan to win medal in the mega event. Shajjar recently bagged gold medal in Iran’s Imam Reza Cup, a gold in 200m and bronze in 200m in World Continental Championship that was held in Kazakhstan.

Pakistan’s contingent is still waiting to win their maiden medal in the ongoing multi-sports event. As many as 68 athletes are participating in the event. So far, Pakistani athletes failed to make their presence felt. From Pakistan women’s cricket team to men’s hockey team, the Green Shirts are facing back-to-back setbacks.
