The Millat Tractors Junior National Tennis Championship 2026 commenced on Monday at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, marking an important step toward nurturing young tennis talent in the country.
The opening ceremony was graced by Senior Manager Administration of Millat Tractors, Imran Ayub, who attended as the chief guest. The event drew a strong presence from the tennis fraternity, including Rashid Malik (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), Senior Executive Vice President of the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA), tournament referee Faheem Siddiqui, seniors coach PLTA Mehboob Waheed Jan, and Syed Sajid Ali Bukhari, President of the Parents Tennis Lovers Association, along with players, parents, and tennis enthusiasts.
Addressing the gathering, Rashid Malik extended his best wishes to the participants and urged young players to compete with zeal, discipline, and passion. He encouraged them to aim for excellence and represent Pakistan with pride at international forums. Malik also expressed his gratitude to Millat Tractors for their continued support and sponsorship for the development of tennis in Pakistan.
In the boys’ U-18 first-round matches, Hamza Ali Rizwan delivered a commanding performance to defeat Hassan Alam 6-1, 6-1. Aliyan Ali registered a straight-sets victory over Muteeb ur Rehman with a 6-4, 6-2 scoreline, while M Umar Ali outclassed Bilal Awais 6-0, 6-4. Muhammad Muaz cruised past Faizan Haider 6-0, 6-1, and Muhammad Ahmad Afzal overcame Lubaid Ahmad Khan 6-1, 6-4.
Ruhab Faisal dominated Abdullah Pirzada 6-1, 6-0, Moazam Babar beat Romail Shahid 6-2, 6-2, and Atiq ur Rehman secured a comfortable 6-1, 6-0 win against Zayd Mansoor. In the most closely contested encounter of the round, Aalay Hussain staged an impressive comeback to defeat Rehaan Khan 3-6, 7-6, 6-1.
Meanwhile, the boys’ U-14 first round witnessed several emphatic victories. Muhammad Junaid defeated Daniyal Abdullah 4-1, 4-2, while Ohad-e-Mustafa produced a flawless display to beat Daniyal Afzal Malik 4-0, 4-0. Muhammad Muaz continued his fine form with a 4-1, 4-2 win over Ahmad Khuda Bakhsh.
Salaar Khan overcame Salman Pirzada 4-2, 4-2, and Ashtar Alam Khan blanked Muhammad Turab Bhatti 4-0, 4-0. Mustafa Uzair Rana and Shahzain Faisal also recorded identical 4-0, 4-0 victories against M Husnain and M Mamnoon Bari respectively. Ryan Umer Khalil defeated M Ehsan Bari 4-1, 4-0, M Ibraheem Hussain Gill beat Moazzam Babar 4-1, 4-0, while Muhammad Faizan edged past M Daniyal 4-2, 5-3.
