TTS Report :
Lahore Qalandars have issued a formal statement addressing a recently reported security-related incident involving members of their squad, confirming disciplinary action and reiterating their commitment to maintaining the highest professional and operational standards within the Pakistan Super League.
The franchise took immediate notice of the incident, which occurred on March 28 at the team hotel and was widely circulated in media reports. In response, Qalandars management launched a comprehensive internal review to establish the facts and assess whether any breach of established protocols had taken place.
Following the inquiry, the franchise confirmed that an isolated incident did occur but emphasised that its nature had been overstated in public discourse and amplified beyond its actual context. “As part of our commitment to discipline and accountability, we have taken a proactive step,” the franchise said in its statement.
In a significant development, Lahore Qalandars announced a voluntary fine of PKR 1 million imposed on captain Shaheen Shah Afridi for his involvement in the matter. The decision, according to the franchise, reflects its zero-tolerance approach towards any lapse, intentional or otherwise, when it comes to adherence to security protocols.
The organisation also confirmed that it has formally submitted a detailed report, along with its observations, to the Pakistan Cricket Board, ensuring full transparency and cooperation with the league’s governing authority.
While addressing the circumstances surrounding the incident, Lahore Qalandars clarified that the situation stemmed from a misunderstanding rather than any deliberate attempt to violate standard operating procedures (SOPs). Nonetheless, the franchise stressed that all players and officials are expected to strictly follow established guidelines at all times.
The statement also acknowledged and appreciated the role of security personnel, highlighting their critical contribution in ensuring a safe and controlled environment for players, team officials, and spectators throughout the tournament. “We deeply value the efforts of our security teams, whose vigilance and professionalism are vital to the smooth conduct of the competition,” the franchise noted.
At the same time, Lahore Qalandars expressed concern over the scale of public attention the incident attracted, suggesting that the issue had been unnecessarily escalated. The franchise warned that such amplification could have adverse implications for the reputation of both the team and the Pakistan Super League at large. “The matter received disproportionate attention, which impacted not only the image of the franchise but also that of the league at domestic and international levels,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its respect for security frameworks, the franchise highlighted the importance of clear communication and alignment regarding protocols to avoid similar misunderstandings in the future. It added that continuous improvement in coordination between teams and security authorities remains essential.
Lahore Qalandars also called for balanced and responsible reporting, urging stakeholders to present incidents in their proper context to safeguard the credibility and integrity of the league. Concluding the statement, the franchise reiterated its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and full compliance with all regulatory requirements, while confirming that no further comments will be made on the matter.
