The 2nd Inter-school Coastal Rowing Beach Sprint Regatta Tournament was successfully organized in Maldives, where Karachi schoolgirls excelled and earned laurels for Pakistan there.
According to information made available here on Tuesday, female teams from Pakistan, Thailand and Sri Lanka participated in the tournament. Overall, the Pakistani girls team performed brilliantly in the tournament and won a total of 9 gold and 3 silver medals.
The Maldives Rowing Association organized the tournament which lasted from November 8 to 15, 2021. Pakistan team was sponsored by Karachi Boat Club. Syeda Aruba Salahuddin won 3 gold medals in U-15 and U-18 categories against 185 students of 10 schools of 3 countries and made her country proud. Pakistan’s Fatima Wadud and Iman Sheikh were among other players of the national team, who won medals. Faria Faisal, Ryan Imran, Shayan Aziz, Hamza Naveed and Aman Asad also won laurels for the country.
Congratulating Syed Aruba Salahuddin on her great success, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon said that promising players like Aruba Salahuddin are the asset, future and pride of Pakistan. He announced that a reception would be arranged to honour Aruba and the team of national rowing regatta. Shamsi Academy Chairman Khalid Jamil Shamsi, Pakistan Sports Welfare Association President Shahida Parveen Kayani, Karachi Basketball Association President Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Pakistan Yoga Sports Federation Secretary Khalid Brohi, Information Secretary Muhammad Arshad, Ghulam Abbas Jamal Advocate and Others praised the national team’s excellent performances in the Rowing Regatta Tournament held in Maldives and especially praised Syeda Aruba for winning gold.
