Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav is close to dethroning Pakistan’s all-format skipper Babar Azam as the number one T20I batter after he claimed the second spot in the latest ICC Men’s T20I rankings.
During India’s current T20I series against the West Indies, Yadav has been in excellent form, which has helped him improve his T20I ranking.
Yadav just made his international debut at the beginning of last year, but since then, he has quickly risen to prominence, thanks to century against England in Nottingham last month and a half-century against West Indies on Tuesday.
The Indian batter is only two ratings away from equaling Babar, who has 818 ratings.
With two games left in India’s five-match series against the West Indies, Yadav will certainly have the opportunity to pass Babar at the top of the standings over the upcoming week.
