FG Polo team emerged victorious in Pakistan’s biggest polo tournament, the 63rd Allied Bank National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup, organised by the Lahore Polo Club.
In a thrilling final played before a large and enthusiastic crowd, FG Polo defeated Master Paints/Diamond Paints 10–8 to secure the prestigious title. The final match was witnessed by a huge gathering of spectators, families, polo enthusiasts, and former players who filled the stands at Lahore Polo Club to watch the high-profile contest.
The final was attended by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar as the chief guest. Also present was Allied Bank Limited Group Head CRBG Hasnain Raza Mirza. They were joined by Malik Azam Hayat Noon, President of Lahore Polo Club, along with executive committee members Feroz Gulzar and Raja Amir. Club Secretary Maj (R) Amjad Ghafoor, a large number of polo lovers, former players, and club members also attended the event.
The final encounter between FG Polo and Master Paints/Diamond Paints turned out to be a highly competitive match. Both teams displayed exceptional skill and determination throughout the game. The match remained closely contested until the final chukker, when FG Polo delivered an outstanding performance to secure the victory with a 10–8 scoreline.
For FG Polo, Raja Mikayial Sami emerged as a top scorer with five fabulous goals while teammates Raul Laplacette thrashed in three goals and Marcos Rivarola and Amin Rahman Fazal converted one goal apiece. For Master Paints/Diamond Paints, Facundo Retamar Carnero fired in four fabulous goals while Amirreza Behbudi hammered three goals and Raja Temur Nadeem struck one goal.
At the end of the match, several individual honors were presented. The best Pakistani player award was earned by Raja Mikayial Sami, the best foreign player Facundo Retamar, the top scorer of the tournament Facundo Retamar, the best pony of the final, a mare owned by Abbas Mukhtar, Mandi Bola.
Meanwhile, during the ceremony, annual awards were also distributed among staff members of Lahore Polo Club in recognition of their services. Cash awards and trophies were presented to Admin Manager Muhammad Faisal, Polo Manager Muhammad Imran, Accounts Manager Muhammad Irfan, Club Secretary Maj (R) Amjad Ghafoor, Security In-Charge Muhammad Arif, Veterinary Doctor Dr. Hassan Siddiq, Head Groundsman Muhammad Khalid, Deputy Head Groundsman Muhammad Ali, Riding School Instructor Munawar Iqbal, Head Office Boy Muhammad Iqbal and Caretaker Khizar Hayat.
Prizes were also distributed among the players, who presented the traditional tent-pegging demonstration during the event. The National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup 2026 is widely regarded as the most prestigious and competitive polo tournament in Pakistan, attracting leading national and international players each year.
