Cricket Commentators Club of Pakistan (CCCP) President Muhammad Idris, Secretary Raja Asad Ali Khan, Sr Commentators Chisty Mujahid, Iftikhar Ahmed Tariq Rahim, Rehan Nawaz Iqbal Beg, Tariq Saeed, Hassan Jalil, Hameed Akthar, Ehteshamul Haq, Tanvir Iqbal and Tariq Raz and former PCB tournament committee member Sarfraz Ahmad have expressed deep sense of shock and grief over the passing away of their beloved colleague and leading English commentator Brig Pervaiz Asghar Mian.
Chishty Mujahid said news of Pingu passing away has deeply grieved utterly devastated and completely shattered him. “I do not have words to express my sadness. It has ended a 40 years close friendship and partnership in cricket commentary both in Pakistan and foreign countries. He was a great human being excellent company and a true friend. I shall sorely miss him forever. May Allah bless his soul and grant him a place in paradise. And give his family the courage fortitude and patience to bear this irreparable loss. Charming and friendly personalities like Pervez Asghar Mian are born perhaps once in a century. Pingu you will be tremendously missed by your friends, admirers and fans the world over. Rest in peace my friend.”
Muhammad Idris said: “By passing away of Pervaiz Asgha Mian, we have lost one of the best cricket commentator and dear friend. His presence in the commentary was a source of great pleasure and pride for all of us. He was refined, cultured and always updated with contemporary cricket knowledge. He will be missed by all those who know him as commentator and person.”
Raja Asad Ali Khan said: “I had the honour to tour abroad with Pingu Jee. My memories with Pervaiz Sb included Australia and England tours. He was thorough gentleman who have full command over cricket language, history and cricket description. With Mian Pervaiz Asghar’s death, another chapter of popular radio commentary is closed. In him, we have lost a popular and rich voice and we cannot express how sad we are. We will carry his golden memories forever. Our sympathies are with his family, who are passing a difficult time.”
