Bahria College Girls Basketball Team won the 16th Allama Iqbal Girls Basketball Tournament 2021 that concluded at the International Abdul Nasser Basketball Court Aram Bagh Karachi.
According to KBBA spokesman, the event was successfully organized by Firdous Ittehad Social and Sports Welfare Organization in association with Karachi Basketball Association on the birthday of poet of East and thinker Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Aiman Shahid, Haniya Nasir and Hafsa Jamil from Fateha Bahria College and Rada Noor, Haqiqa Noor and Laiba Tabriz from Aram Bagh Club played brilliantly. In the first semifinal, Bahria College A defeated IOBM University by 36-24 to qualify for the final, while in the other semifinal, Aram Bagh Girls Basketball Club beat Bahria College B. The best player of the nomination was Ayman Shahid of Bahria College while Laiba Tabriz was declared the best forward.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Akhtar Inayat Bhar Gadi distributed trophies and individual prizes among the winners and runners-up team. On the occasion, President Karachi Basketball Association Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Khalid Jamil Shamsi, Shahida Parveen Kayani, Asghar Baloch, Muhammad Asim, Ch Ghulam Abbas Jamal Advocate, Asif Imran, Asad Ibad Ali Khan, Sher Khan, Usman Ghani and others.
In his address at the closing ceremony, special guest Secretary Sports Akhtar Inayat Bhargari said: “Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah sincerely wished for the promotion of sports in the province. The sports event held in this open court is a proof that Pakistan is a safe country for sports. Holding such an event in Karachi shows that the Karachiites love sports and peace. International Abdul Nasser Basketball Court Aram Bagh is the oldest basketball court in Karachi and it will take steps to solve the problems faced by the players and players on priority basis.”
He assured the players and the organizers that the court will be modernized. Zahid Malik, Zaid Musnaf Shah and Aafia Khalid officiated the final match while the technical officers were Zaeema Khatun, Tariq Hussain and Naeem Ahmed.
