Pakistan’s international tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq called on Punjab Minister for Sports Malik Taimoor Masood at the National Hockey Stadium here on Wednesday.
On this occasion, the Punjab Minister for Sports appointed Aisam as the Goodwill Ambassador of the Punjab government and also presented him a souvenir. Director Admin Syed Omair Hasan was also present on this occasion. Talking on this occasion, Taimoor Masood said definitely the game of tennis is identified in Pakistan through the name of Aisam-ul-Haq.
“Punjab government will fully patronize Ace Tennis Academy established by Aisam in the provincial capital. The players of this academy will also train in the newly-built tennis courts adjacent to Punjab tennis stadium,” the minister added.
Taimoor Masood said Aisam is a role model for young tennis players of the country. “We are working for the betterment and promotion of tennis sport in Pakistan. A special programme of tennis talent hunt will also be started in Punjab in near future”. Aisam, on this occasion, thanked Punjab Minister for Sports for appointing him Goodwill Ambassador to the Punjab govt.
Meanwhile, DG Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi has said that SBP has organized as many as 11 sports events to celebrate 75th Independence Day of the country in an appropriate manner. In a statement on Wednesday, Qureshi said that a huge amount of Rs one million has been distributed among the top position holders of different games of Independence Day sports competitions.
Meanwhile, in the Independence Day Girls badminton event, Pak White team emerged winners against Pak Green team by 3-0 while in Boys event Pak White team defeated Pak Green by 2-1.
