On Friday, Pakistan A emerged victorious over Sri Lanka A by a margin of 60 runs in the semi-final of the ongoing Emerging Asia Cup.
The Men in Green will now await the outcome of the second semi-final clash between India A and Bangladesh A to determine their final opponent.
In their pursuit of a target of 323 runs, the home team was bowled out for 262 in 45.4 overs. Pakistan’s pacer Arshad Iqbal shined as he took five wickets, conceding only 37 runs. Additionally, Mubasir Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem each contributed with two wickets for the winning side.
Despite commendable efforts from Sahan Arachchige and Avishka Fernando, who both scored 97 runs, Sri Lanka fell short in their bid to secure victory.
In the first innings, Pakistan A posted a competitive total of 322 runs against Sri Lanka A in Colombo. Omair Bin Yousuf and captain Mohammad Haris played crucial roles, scoring fifties to propel their team’s innings. Omair scored 88 runs in 79 balls, while Haris displayed a quick knock of 52 runs in 43 balls.
Contributions from Mubasir Khan (42 runs) and Tayyab Tahir (26 runs) further solidified Pakistan’s position. Towards the end of the innings, Mohammad Wasim Jr. played a cameo, adding 24 runs in 17 balls, including two sixes and a four.
Chamika Karunaratne, Pramod Madushan, and Lahiru Samarakoon picked up two wickets each for the Sri Lankan team.
The final match of the tournament is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 23, in Colombo.
