Karachi:Firstt All Karachi Women’s Football Tournament was organized in collaboration with Chishti Foundation at Zero Ground Zamzam in which 8 teams participated. Diya Women’s Football Club Yellow defeated Hazara United 3-2 in the final of 7A Side Round Robin League based tournament. Both the teams played exceptionally well and scored one goal each in specify time. The match was decided on a penalty kicks. The scorers for the winner team were Rukhsar Rashid, Zunaira Shah and Shumaila Hussain, while from the runner up side, Komal and Haseen scored penalties. Third position awarded to TLH and Fair Play Trophy to Diya Blue. Individual awards were given to Arousa Nawaz as Best Goalkeeper, Amima Matahar Best Defender (Diya Blue), Hussain Fatima Best Midfielder (Hazara United), Shumaila Hussain Best Striker (Diya Yellow) and Zunera Shah Best Scorer with 11 goals. Chief Guest Sameera Chishti, Guest of Honor Nausheen Ahmedjee, Chief of Hazara United Academy Ali Chingizi were also present. On the event Sameera Chishti said that women footballers have ample talent. Nausheen Ahmedjee expressed that the increase in the passion of football game in women is pleasing. Ali Chingizi said that women football tournament in Karachi need to be enhanced. Sadia Sheikh, founder and chairperson of Diya Women Football Club, said that she would continue her efforts for the promotion of football.
